A rare three-run error by Estherville Lincoln Central allowed visiting LeMars to rally all the way back from a 6-0 deficit and steal an 8-7 victory from the Midgettes on Tuesday.

ELC was alone at the top of the Lakes Conference with one loss, but now are 10-2.

ELC took a 7-5 lead into the seventh inning, but the Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out on two singles and ELC starter Amanda Christensen’s fourth walk.

LeMars went for the bunt and second baseman Taylar Jacobson, covering first, saw the throw go off her glove. All three runs came around to give the Bulldogs the lead.

ELC finally got out of the inning on a pop up and ground-out to third baseman Melanie Bandow.

Emily Jensen came up with a little blooper just behind second base. Three Bulldog defenders converged on the ball with the first to reach it bobbling it, but it landed in a teammate’s glove for the final out.

ELC started well enough with a six-run second inning off LeMars starter Amelia Stonesifer.

That was followed by an RBI double.

Beardsley saved a run in the outfield with a diving catch and Christensen caught a come-backer to end the inning.

Defensively, the Bulldogs switched pitchers to Jordan Heidebrink, which ELC struggled against for two innings.

Meanwhile, LeMars came up with three more runs with three singles, an ELC error and a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.

The Midgettes missed a couple opportunities to score in the second. Juergens led off with a single and Olesen went to second on the sacrifice bunt by Wegner. Jordan Jacobson singled and Olesen tried to score on the play, but a perfect throw from center field got her at the plate.

Jacobson went to second and then scored when Jensen hit a grounder to the third baseman, who overthrew first.
