ELC frosh win three of four
The Estherville Lincoln Central freshmen softball team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday, but the Midgettes won three of the four games played over the last two days.
On Tuesday, ELC lost 12-7 to Storm Lake.
Ashton Reisner pitched five innings, giving up 12 runs, 11 earned, 10 hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
At the plate, Sadie Winter was 3-3 while Kelly Christensen and Maggie Haugen each had two hits.
ELC immediately avenged the loss with a 14-5 victory.
Melissa Gjerde pitched four innings, giving up four runs, two earned, five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Erin Ward was 2-2 at the plate.
On Wednesday, ELC swept North Sentral Kossuth 112-4 and 9-7.
In game one, Gjerde pitched four innings giving up four runs, two earned, five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Ashley Weston, Winter, Christina Tendal and Haugen each had two hits.
In the second game, Reisner pitched three innings, giving up seven runs, four earned, eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Kendall Bosch pitched one inning and recorded two strikeouts.
At the plate, Winter and Alyssa Johnson each went 2-3.
The ELC freshmen are 16-1-1.
