Knights’ bats silent against Eagles

By Staff | Jun 28, 2008

TERRIL – After two nights off from softball, the Graettinger/Terril defense didn’t seem to suffer too much as the Knights returned to action against North Sentral Kossuth on Friday.

However, the Knights’ offense was another story as they managed just one hit.

“Defensively, we hung right in there,” said G/T coach Jana Hector. “We only struck out six times, so we were hitting the ball, but it wasn’t solid or to the gaps.”

Tasha Neilson had the lone hit as she went 1-2. The Knights’ only other baserunner was Dakota Hovinga, who reached on an error.

Meanwhile, the Eagles scored one run in the second and five in the fourth.

Malorie Girres took the loss. She struck out two batters and walked one while giving up eight hits.

The Knights (6-13, 5-5) hosts Clay Central-Everly in a doubleheader on Monday.
