A-R hangs on to beat Poky

ARMSTRONG – The Armstrong-Ringsted baseball team pitched by committee and came up with some key hits to defeat Pocahontas 13-11 on Tuesday.

Spencer Clausen started on the mound for the Mustangs who took a 2-0 lead after one.

However Pocahontas scored five runs in the second inning. Clausen completed two innings, giving up five runs on three hits with one strikeout and four walks.

Logan Anderson pitched the next two innings. He ended up giving up three runs with on three hits with two strikeouts, two walks and two hit batters.

Ethan Eisenbacher pitched one inning of relief in the fifth, giving up three runs on two hits with two hit batters.

But A-R led 13-7 after four innings.

Pocahontas plated three runs in the fifth inning on a three-run home run by Jarrod Schott.

Ridge Christiansen closed out the final two innings on the mound giving up one run on two hits with five strikeouts.

At the plate, Dillion McBride was 3-4 with four runs and an RBI. Brett Tigges was 2-2 with a double and two RBIs, Schaun Ash was 1-2 with an RBI, Clausen was 1-3 with an RBI and Christiansen was 1-4 with two RBIs.

A-R (9-11) finished the regular season at Ruthven on Wednesday. The Mustangs open tournament play on Tuesday, May 8 against Graettinger/Terril at Bancroft.
