Tornadoes rally to defeat Indians

STORM LAKE – The Spirit Lake baseball team was unable to hang on to a lead for the second night in a row.

After taking a 4-3 lead over Storm Lake in the sixth inning, the Tornadoes came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to eke out a 5-4 victory on Wednesday.

Spirit Lake led 6-2 after four innings against Western Christian on Tuesday.

Against the Tornadoes, the Indians scored their four runs on just two hits, but Storm Lake committed three errors. Just two Tornado runs were earned.

Mitch Peschon went the distance on the mound for the Indians. He struck out four batters and gave up nine hits, but walked none.

At the plate, Peschon was 1-2 and Tyler Dean was 1-3. Cody Davis and Kyle Heidebrink each had an RBI.

Spirit Lake ends the regular season next Wednesday at MOC-Floyd Valley.
