MOC-FV defeats Spirit Lake in season finale

ORANGE CITY – The Spirit Lake baseball team ended the season with an 11-2 non-conference loss to MOC-Floyd Valley on Wednesday.

The Indians had 11 hits against the Dutchmen, but only managed two runs. MOC-Floyd Valley had 12 hits.

Bat the plate, Ethan Carlson was 3-3 with an RBI to lead the Indians.

Mitch Peschon was 1-3 with a double, Cody Davis was 1-3 with an RBI, Nik Erickson was 1-3. Brad Engel, Shae Heinrichs were 1-1, Ryan Jennings was 1-2 and Nik Johnson was 1-4.

Engel took the loss. He pitched one inning, giving up four runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout.

Peschon pitched two innings, giving up four runs on six hits with one strikeout.

Derrick Miner pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Carlson pitched a third inning giving up one walk.

Spirit Lake will host Storm Lake at 7 p.m. today in the first round of Class 3A District play.
