ARMSTRONG – Class 8-Man No. 2 Armstrong-Ringsted faces a former district opponent in non-district action for the second week in a row tonight.

The Mustangs travel to Corwith to take on Corwith-Wesley-Luverne.

A-R won 50-26 over the Panthers a year ago. CWL opened its season last week with a 22-18 victory over West Bend-Mallard.

“CWL has some big lineman and run the ball fairly well,” said A-R coach Robert Zotz.

QuikStatsIowa.com lists Tony Rasmussen as rushing for 99 yards and Daniel Anderson for 75 yards. in their first game.

“Defensively, they’re very aggressive so they make you earn those yards. But because they’re aggressive, they’re also susceptible to the big play.”

Zotz said the Panthers put together good drives against West Bend-Mallard.

“They can push you around,” he said.

Compared to the Mustangs, Zotz said CWL is bigger, but not faster.

The Mustangs make one change in the backfield this week with Tanner LaBore joining Tyler Tonderum and quarterback Ridge Christiansen.

Both Tonderum and Christiansen rushed for 100 yards in the Mustangs’ 40-6 opening win over Woden-Crystal Lake-Titonka last Friday.

“That let’s us know both can take care of things,” Zotz said.
