A/ELC swim team beats Perry
PERRY – The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Swim Team traveled to Perry and split a double dual meet with Perry and Des Moines Lincoln on Thursday.
Lincoln beat Algona/ELC 81-12, but Algona/ELC defeated Perry 49-39.
In the win against Perry, Algona/ELC’s 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams all finished first.
Individual first places were Hanna Degen in the 50 freestyle and 100 breast stroke, Kendall Bosch in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly, and Lauren Boggess in the 200 freestyle.
Placing second was Deb Weideman in the 200 freestyle, Boggess in the 100 free and Missy Zadow in the 100 backstroke.
Third place went to Liz Humble in the 100 breast stroke and Weideman in the 100 freestyle.
“We went to Perry with the mind set that everyone had to put forth a good effort and we would have be able to win two relays and four individual events and the girls did that and more, said coach Jim Fisher. “It was a good solid effort by the girls and they came out with a win. I told them they would not have a lot of recovery time in some events but think of it as a hard practice and they responded.”
Next up is the home meet on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Emmetsburg.
