No. 2 Mustangs score early and often

CORWITH – Class 8-Man No. 2 Armstrong-Ringsted’s Ridge Christiansen rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns and threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns in the Mustangs’ 54-26 victory over Corwith-Wesley-Luverne on Friday.

Also, teammate Tyler Tonderum rushed for two 118 yards and two touchdowns.

“We had another very nice start,” said A-R coach Robert Zotz. “Our offense was clicking in the first half. Defensively we did a good job, but still need to work on our second half performances.”

The Mustangs began with a 28-point first quarter and scored 20 more in the second for a 48-12 halftime lead.

Tonderum struck first with a 55-yard run with an Ethan Eisenbacher point-after attempt. Eisenbacher connected on a six of seven attempts in the first half.

Christiansen then scored on a 29-yard run and then connected with Tanner LaBore on a 14-yard strike.

Tonderum completed the quarter with a 25-yard touchdown run.

In the second quarter, Christiansen scored on a 1-yard dive and then on a 24-yard run and a 12-yard pass to LaBore.

The third quarter scoring just had a touchdown and two-point conversion by the Panthers with both teams scoring once in the final frame-Christiansen scored on a 2-yard run.

The Mustangs rushed for 332 yards. Dakota Odermann had 25 yards and LaBore had 23 yards.

Tonderum had 56 yards receiving while LaBore had 51 yards receiving.

Christiansen led the defense with 12 tackles while Tonderum and 10 and LaBore had nine.

Christiansen, Willie Beeler and Brett Thackery each had a fumble recovery. LaBore had an interception.

CWL rushed for 97 yards and the Panthers were 8-of-22 passing for 189 yards with one interception.

A-R (2-0) is at West Bend-Mallard on Friday.
