Mustangs ride past Raiders
RUTHVEN – In spite of a poor night from the service line, the Armstrong-Ringsted volleyball team swept Ruthven-Ayrshire 3-0 on Tuesday.
The Mustangs won by scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.
“The hits were spread out and the team played an all-around good match aside from serving,” said A-R coach Sandy Tigges. “The serve percentage should be in the 90s and we served 75 percent. This will be a stat that will have to improve. We gave up 18 points to missed serves.”
The Mustangs were 55-of-73 from the service line.
At the net, Megan Sanders had five kills while Brianne Gonzales had four and Carrie Sorensen and Amy Leach each had three.
Gonzales has the best night serving as she was 24-of-26 with 15 aces. She also led the back row defense with 12 digs.
Sanders had 11 digs and Tess Christiansen had 10 digs.
Sorensen led the team in blocks with three.
Setting, Taylor Grabinoski had eight assists and Christiansen had seven.
A-R (2-3) is on the road against Estherville Lincoln Central today.
