Indians win easily at Emmetsburg
EMMETSBURG – The Spirit Lake Park cross country teams got in a little workout at the Emmetsburg Invitational on Monday.
The SLP girls team came up with a perfect score of 15 as five Indians were the first to cross the finish line. The non-counting runners also were in the top 10.
In the boys race, SLP missed the perfect score by two points as runners took the first four places with the fifth runner placing seventh.
In the girls race, Carrie Emgarten was first in 16 minutes, 21 seconds followed by mary Brown in 16:22, Megan Skalbeck in 16:28, Erin Lynn in 16:23 and Abby Gustafson in 16:25.
Briana Brunsvold finished seventh in 16:45 and Chelsea Parks was ninth in 17:35.
Following Spirit Lake was North Iowa with 57 points and Emmetsburg with 69. West Bend-Mallard and Corwith-Wesley-Luverne had incomplete scores.
In the boys race, Spirit Lake Park finished with 17 points followed by North Iowa with 49 and Emmetsburg with 68. West Bend-Mallard and Corwith-Wesley-Luverne didn’t have full teams.
Jesse Baldwin led the Indians, winning the race in 17:39 followed by Alec Baldwin in 17:42, Tyler Gustafson in 17:50 and Mich O’Neill in 17:51. Jordan Knox finished seventh in 18:45 to round out the scoring.
Jon Messer was eight in 19:04.
The Indians were at Storm Lake on Tuesday. They travel to Sheldon next Tuesday.
