A-R welcomes TRV for Homecoming

By Staff | Sep 19, 2008

ARMSTRONG – Every year homecoming week brings out the emotions at a school.

Armstrong-Ringsted coach coach has simple view of the week-comparing the excitement of all the activities with the distractions of the same.

“You just hope the positives of homecoming outweigh the negatives,” he said.

The week culminates in tonight’s football game as Twin River Valley comes to town.

Two years ago, A-R needed a win in the final game of the season to qualify for the state playoffs for the first time in school history. The Mustangs won 41-16.

Last year, A-R won 55-28 over the Thunder.

“TRV runs fairly well and they have a good linebacker corps,” said Zotz. “We may have to mix it up to keep them honest.”

As the Mustangs have done throughout Zotz’ tenure, they will try to establish the run first.

“They’re coming off a big district win, so we need to step up, go out hard and fast and not give them opportunities to stay with us,” said Zotz.

The Thunder defeated Harris-Lake Park 42-30 last week after opening the season with non-district losses to Northeast Hamilton (45-44) and Ventura (46-6).

The Mustangs, rated No. 2 in Class 8-Man, have started quickly in each game and cruised to a 3-0 record including last week’s 65-22 win over West Bend-Mallard.
