Mustangs cruise in homecoming rout

ARMSTRONG – Class 8-Man No. 2 Armstrong-Ringsted followed the same pattern as its first three victories. in a 70-24 homecoming rout over Twin River Valley on Friday.

The Mustangs scored 28 points in each of the first two quarters to take a 56-12 halftime lead.

“Everyone got to play tonight for the big A-R Homecoming victory,” said A-R coach Robert Zotz. “The stands were packed and that really motivated the boys.”

A-R ranked up 322 yards on the ground and only passed twice with Ridge Christiansen 1-2.

Four different Mustang players scored in the first quarter when Christiansen scoring on a 35-yard run, Tyler Tonderum on a two-yard run Tanner LaBore on an 8-yard run and a 79-yard kickoff return.

In the second quarter, Tonderum had a 19-yard touchdown, Labore had a 4-yard touchdown run and then Christiansen connected with Labore on a 9 yard touchdown strike. Tonderum completed the half with a 33-yard run.

Tonderum scored one more time in the third quarter from 4 yards out and Spencer Clausen had a 35-yard touchdown run.

Tonderum rushed for a team-high 168 yards while Christiansen had 94, Clausen had 35 yards LaBore had 20, Moore had eight, Dakota Odermann had three and Thackery had six.

Seth Anderson was the leading tackler with eight while Craig Tigges and Travis Hantelman each had seven tackles. Tigges also recovered two fumbles and Tonderum had an interception.

A-R (4-0, 2-0) travels to Swea City next week to take on rival and No. 3 North Sentral Kossuth.
