Swimming faster and faster

CHARLES CITY – The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Swim team finished sixth at the Charles City Invitational on Saturday.

The team scored 114 points and beat out Waterloo East.

“We were limited to what we could do as we only had four girls to swim but they did a very nice job,” said coach Jim Fisher. “We were in seven events and beat our seed time in six of those events.”

Swimming were Hanna Degen, Kendall Bosch, Missy Zadow and Liz Humble.

The 200 medley relay finished ninth with a time of 2 minutes. 29.52 seconds.

The 200 freestyle relay was eighth in 2.05.87 and the 400 freestyle relay placed eighth in 4.50.34.

In other races, Bosch finished third in the 200 individual medley in 2.36.72

Degen placed fifth in the 50 freestyle in 28.55 seconds.

Humble took four seconds off her time and placed ninth in the 200 freestyle.

Zadow placed 12th in the 100 backstroke.

“The girls set their mind they would not be last and then really went out and did a nice job,” said Fisher.

Next week the team travels to Des Moines North.

In the first Power ratings released the relay teams are all rated 40th. Bosch is rated 37th in in the individual medley and Degen is ranked 88th in the 50 freestyle.
