Spirit Lake Park teams sweep through Sheldon Invitational

SHELDON – The Spirit Lake Park cross country teams continued their dominance this season by winning both the girls and boys races at the Sheldon Invitational on Tuesday.

The SLP boys team, rated No. 1 in Class 2A, had six runners finish in the top 20 with three of those in the top 10 to finish with 47 points. MOC-Floyd Valley was secon with 79.

The Spirit Lake Park girls, rated second in Class 2A, finished with 46 points and also had six runners in the top 20 including three in the top 10. Unity Christian finished second with 62 points.

Alec Baldwin led the boys team with a second place finish in 15 minutes, 28 seconds. Tyler Gustafson was eight in 15;58, Keith Byers was ninth in 16:108, Jesse Baldwin was 11th in 16:12 and Jon Messer placed 17th in 16:24.

Non-counting scores were a 19th-place finish by Mitch O’Neill in 16:24 and Jordan Knox placed 36th in 17:01.

The Spirit Lake Parks girls were led by a third -place finish from Carrie Emgarten in 15:26.

megan Skablaeck placed sixth in 15:32, Abby Gustafson was eight in 15:42, Mary Brown was 12th in 15:50 and Briana Brunsvold was 17th in 16:06.

Erin Lynn was close behind as she placed 18th in 16:07.

Chelsea Parks palced 32nd in 16:38.
