WHITTEMORE – The Estherville Lincoln Central/Armstrong-Ringsted girls cross country team finished fourth at the Algona Invitational on Monday.

ELCAR was led by its juniors, Brooke Egeland and Traci Speltz, who finished eighth and 13th, respectively.

Eggers finished the 4K race in 16 minutes, 24 seconds while Speltz finished in 16:35.

“Broke and Traci both go out ad they’re attacking,” said ELCAR coach Tina Burton. “They’re trying to rn at the front and work against the top of the pack.”

Emily Jensen finished 30th in 17:02 while Morgan Grabinoski was 44th in 17:32 and Alysa Ayers placed 50th in 17:43.

“We to work on the middle group and get them to compete more aggressively,” said Burton.

Bailey Raska finished 53rd in 17:52 an Samantha Natterstad was 77th in 18:56.

Spirit Lake Park won the girls race followed by Fairmont, Minn., Humboldt, ELCAR, Fort Dodge St. Edmonds, Spencer, Charles City, Algona, Webster City and Pocahontas.

The Estherville Lincoln Central/Armstrong-Ringsted boys ran at the Algona Invitational also.

Dan Kirchner led the team with a 73rd place finish in 20:10 followed by Scott Schmidt in 76th in 20:25, Jon Abrahamson in 83rd in 21:03, Phil Roach in 84th in 21:12 and Nick Schwab was 85th in 21:12.

“They’re all trying to finish strong and they work hard together,” said Burton.


In the junior varsity girls race, Krista Pelzer finished 25th in 19:36, Melissa Gjerde was 32nd in 19:57, Megan Karels was 52nd in 20:39 and Adreanna Laabs placed 70th in 22:48.

ELCAR travels to Eagle Grove next Tuesday.
