Lakers place fourth at Viking Classic
FORT DODGE – The Iowa Lakes men’s golf team finished sixth at the Grand View Viking Classic at the Fort Dodge Country Club this Sunday and Monday.
The Lakers shot a 311 on Sunday and a 305 on Monday to end with a 616 two-day score.
Host Grand View won with a 591, seven strokes better than second-place Waldorf.
Iowa Lakes was led by Scott Benson, who finished fifth overall. He had a two-day total of 146 after shooting 73 each day.
Joel Keady finished 12th overall with 149 after rounds of 74 and 75.
Nick Christensen finished 27th overall with a 157 while Jarvis Weber shot a 158 to place 29th.
Non-counting scores were a 160 from A.J. Appel, who placed 38th; Max Koster placed 43 with a 162, Marc Siemers placed 73rd with a 172 and Nick Skinner placed 77th with a 180.
Soper places third overall
In women’s play, Ricca Soper finished third overall with a two-day total of 168 after rounds of 78 and 90.
Katie Heddinger finished with a 199 to tie for 19th, Abby Hohensee shot a 205 to place 23rd and Lauren Hartman shot 218 to place 25th.
Des Moines Area CC won the women’s tournamentwith a 695 with Iowa Western placing second with a 696, Iowa Wesley shot 747 and Iowa Lakes finished fourth with a 790.
