Iowa Lakes struggles at Indian Hills Tourney

OTTUMWA – The Iowa Lakes volleyball team struggled through a weekend at the Indian Hills Tournament without one of their leading hitters.

The Lakers, without Yawen Xiao who rolled an ankle last week, posted an 0-4 record losing two Seminole State and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith 3-0 each on Friday, then lost 3-0 to Kishwaukee and 3-1 to Indian Hills on Saturday.

Scores against Seminole State were 25-20, 25-16, 30-28.

Against the University of Arkansas Fort Smith scores were 25-16, 25-11 and 25-13.

Against Kishwaukee, the No. 1 team in NJCAA Division II won 25-17, 25-11, 25-13.

Indian Hills won 25-11, 16-25, 25-13, 25-20.

Teegan Hunziker led the Lakers with 25 kills along with 50 digs.

Erin Jacobsen had 21 kills and 18 blocks with Alison Albers contributing 72 set assists and 19 blocks.

Iowa Lakes (17-17, 6-0) travels to the Central College Tournament in Columbus, Neb. this Friday and Saturday.
