Knights beat county rival to end tough day

The Graettinger/Terril volleyball team had one bright spot at the Estherville Lincoln Central Tournament.

The Knights won the final match of the day to defeat fellow Palo Alto County rival Emmetsburg.

It was the Knights lone win as they lost to Humboldt 21-8, 22-20 and Laurens-Marathon 21-8, 21-13.

Against the E’Hawks, Graettinger/Terril opened with a 21-15 victory, lost game two 21-16 and took the final game 15-11.

For the tournament, Theresa Petersen led the Knights with 14 kills while Malorie Girres had nine and Dakota Hovinga and Tasha Neilson each had six.

Lindsay Flaharty had 29 set assists.

Petersen led the defense with 11 digs while Neilson had nine.

Serving, Girres and Hovinga each had 15 serves with two aces. Petersen had 11 serves with four aces.

The Knights return to action Thursday at Armstrong to take on the Mustangs and Woden-Crystal Lake-Titonka.
