A-R not going to take R-A lightly

ARMSTRONG – The winner may seem obvious as Armstrong-Ringsted travels to Ruthven-Ayrshire tonight.

The Mustangs are a team that’s only lost a handful of games over the past few years.

Meanwhile, the Raiders have already lost more than a handful of games this season at 0-6.

A-R coach Robert Zotz doesn’t believe that’s a reason to take Ruthven-Ayrshire lightly.

“We’ll prepare for them like any other team,” he said. “The have some good athletes. We’ll use this game as an opportunity to get better. We still haven’t put together every element at the same time. It’d be nice to put it all together in the first quarter.

To make sure that doesn’t happen, Zotz wants his team to get off to a quick start.

The Raiders feature a quarterback in Brad Geelan that has speed. He’s passed for 50 yards this season, but according to quikstats.com, also has 10 interceptions.

“We need to make sure he doesn’t beat us with the pass,” Zotz said. “Defensively, they like to get pressure and send a lot of people. If you can get past that first line though, you can have success.”
