Iowa Lakes tops two ranked foes
COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Iowa Lakes volleyball team had another solid weekend at the Central Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday posting a 3-1 recording including a 2-1 mark against teams rated in the top 20 in the nation.
The Lakers began play Friday with a 3-1 over No. 12 North Platte by scores of 25-22, 25-14, 17-25, 25-18 and then beat No. 18 Central College 21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23.
On Saturday, Iowa Lakes swept Colby, 25-21, 25-17, 25-12 and then lost to No. 4 Cowley 26-16, 17-25, 25-23, 25-21.
For the weekend, Alison Albers had 139 assists along with 24 blocks.
Yawen Xiao, who returned to the lineup after injuring an ankle a couple wweeks ago, led the Lakers in kills with 53.
Libero Martha Stover had 76 digs and Teegan Hunziker had 13 ace serves.
Iowa Lakes (20-18, 6-0) plays its final home match Wednesday when the team hosts Iowa Central. Start time is 6:30 p.m.
