Knights run away from Wolverines

WEST BEND – It wasn’t supposed to be this easy.

Graettinger/Terril traveled to West Bend for the Wolverines Homecoming on Friday and simply dominated their hosts in a 55-14 victory.

“The kids were excited and ready to go,” said Graettinger/Terril coach Karlton Hector. “We went in thinking this would be a drawn-out game and it went the other way for us.”

The Knights started the game kicking off to the Wolverines and stopped them on their first possession.

Moments later, Drew Skattebo scored from 9 yards out. He scored again on a 2-yard run with 4:40 left in the first quarter.

West Bend-Mallard came back with a 1-yard run by Matt Ruppert.

The Knights came back with an 11-yard touchdown run by Cody Dyhrkopp with 45 seconds left in the first quarter.

Kick Morton Utoft, who made all seven of his extra-point attempts on the night, kicked three in the first quarter as the Knights led 21-7.

The scoring barrage continued in the second quarter as Jake Hoffman scored on a 42-yard run, James Tatman caught a 12-yard pass and Beau Craig caught a 9-yard reception for scores as Graettinger/Terril led 42-8 at the break.

In the third quarter, Dyhrkopp broke free on a 49-yard run. The Wolverines added one more score.

Graettinger/Terril’s last score came from the junior varsity as Eric Hatland scored on a 2-yard run.

The Knights rushed 50 times for 380 yards.,

Hoffman had 117 yards on 12 carries, Dyhrkopp had 111 yards on eight carries, Skattebo had 78 yards on 15 carries, Jeremiah Andrews carried the ball four times for 35 yards, Hatland had five carries for 25 yards and Heath Marchand had 14 yards on six caries.

Dyhrkopp was 4-8 passing for 50 yards.

Kass Schany caught on pass for 18 yards, Tatman had one catch for 12 yards, Skattebo had one for 11 and Craig had one for 9.

Defensively, Hoffman recovered two fumbles and Dyhrkopp and Taylor Harris each snagged an interception.

The Knights (5-2, 3-2) host Ruthven-Ayrshire on Friday.
