Mustangs rout Raiders
RUTHVEN – A 35-point first quarter was all Armstrong-Ringsted needed against a winless Ruthven-Ayrshire as the Mustangs cruised to a 70-0 victory on Friday.
A-R put up 405 yards of offense while holding the Raiders to 103 yards on the night.
Tyler Tonderum started the scoring with a 60-yard punt return, then had a 24-yard touchdown run. Ridge Christiansen scored on a 1-yard run then had a 24-yard touchdown pass to Cody Hantelman. Tanner LaBore completed the first-quarter scoring with a 12-yard run.
In the second quarter, Spencer Clausen scoed on a 19-yard run and Dakota Odermann had a 32-yard run.
In the second half, Clausen had a 53-yard run and Tyler Feddersen scored on a 23-yard romp.
“It was nice to see the junior varsity come in and play with the same intensity,” said A-R coach Robert Zotz.
Tonderum had 125 of the team’s 37 rushing yards. Clausen rushed for 102, Odermann 58, Christiansen 35, LaBore and Feddersen, 22 each and Dylan Moore had eight.
Passing, Christiansen was 2-3 for 33 yards.
Hantelman had both catches.
Defensively, Craig Tigges, Seth Anderson and Dylan Looft each had five tackles. Clausen had two interceptions and Hantelman had one.
“We need to remain focused and get ready to finish the regular season strong,” said Zotz.
The Mustangs, rated No. 8 in Monday’s Associated Press poll, host No. 5 Laurens-Marathon on Friday.
