Indians win Storm Lake Tourney
STORM LAKE – The Spirit Lake volleyball team posted a 3-1 record to win the Storm Lake Tournament on Saturday.
The Indians beat Emmetsburg 21-7, 21-9, Estherville Lincoln Central 21-16, 21-12, Storm Lake 21-23, 21-16, 15-9 and lost to Cherokee 21-18, 21-19.
In the championship match, the Indians took on Cherokee again, this time coming away with a 25-18, 25-22 win.
Amber Kirschbaum had 48 kills and 14 blocks on the day.
Sara Martinson contributed 22 kills and seven blocks and Regan Sierperda had eight blocks.
Kori Heidebrink had 37 set assists along with five service aces. Alex Horsman had 36 set assists along with six aces.
Kylie Stoll led the defense with 30 digs and also was 34-of-35 serving with five aces.
Chelsie Stettnichs also was 34-of-35 from the service line with 25 aces.
Ashley Colwell had six ace serves.
Spirit Lake hosts Okoboji at 7 p.m. in 2A postseason action.
