A/ELC team takes third at Charles City
CHARLES CITY – The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Swim Team placed third at the Charles City quad on Tuesday.
The 400 freestyle relay team finished second with a time of 4 minutes, 30.60 seconds. That team consisted of Lauren Bogges, Jenni Weaver, Missy Zadow, and Hannah Degen.
The 200 Free Relay team of Kendall Bosch, Zadow, Weaver and Degen finished third in 1:57.45.
Individually, Bosch finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:10.23 and third in the 200 individual medley in 2:33.89.
Hannah Degen had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 50 freestyle in 27.9 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1:02.90.
Lauren Bogges placed fifth in the 200 freestyle in 2:36.73 and Deb Weidemann had a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 200 free and the 100 breaststroke.
Zadow finished seventh in the 100 backstroke and Liz Humble was 10th in the 50 free.
“We went over with the goal of beating Charles City and giving Vinton a strong run and we did that,” said coach Jim Fisher. “We only got beat by Decorah in the 200 and 400 relays and both Hanna and Kendall finished behind only Decorah.
“The girls were really looking forward to this meet to see how they are stacking up at this point of the season. Of the 13 events we swam in, 10 were at or below their seed time which is really good for this time of the season.
“The two best races of the night were the 400 relay team taking off 10 seconds and Hannah just missed the 50 freestyle record by four-hundredths of a second. This is what their hard work had done.”
