Lakers falter at Iowa Western

COUNCIL Bluffs – The Iowa Lakes volleyball faced some stiff competition at the Iowa Western Crossover Tournament on Friday.

The Lakers were swept by host Iowa Western 25-11, 25-16, 25-20 and by Central Community College (Columbus, Neb.) 25-23, 25-21, 25-18. Iowa Western is rated second in Division I and Central is a top 25 team in Division II.

Alison Albers led the team in three categories with 56 set assists, 11 blocks and two ace serves.

Yawen Xiao led the attack with 21 kills while Teegan Hunziker led the back-row defense with 39 digs.

Iowa Lakes (24-20, 8-0) ends the regular season at the ICCAC Crossover Tournament this Friday and Saturday in Fort Dodge.
