Lakers rated eighth in the nation

The Iowa Lakes Community College Wrestling Program enters its inaugural season voted as the No. 8 team in the nation according to www.InterMatWrestle.com.

The preseason ranking for the National Junior College Athletic Association places very high expectations on coach Jason McCloud and his squad who enters the first season of wrestling in the history of Iowa Lakes Community College.

In addition to the high team ranking, several student-athletes have also been ranked individually in the national polls.

Three of the four ranked Iowa Lakes wrestlers are rated seventh in their weight classes: Mike Beradesco, of West Allenhurst, N.J., at 125 pounds; Karon Reid, of Bricktown, N.J., at 141 pounds; and Trevor Sutor, of Paulsboro, N.J., at 165 pounds.

Felton Banks, of Fredencksburg, Va., is rated eighth at 197 pounds

All four wrestlers are freshmen at Iowa Lakes Community College.

The Iowa Lakes Community College Wrestling team will compete in its first home match of the 2008-2009 season on Nov. 19.

The dual features the Lakers against Minnesota West Community and Technical College and will begin at 7 p.m. in Estherville.

Fan support will be greatly appreciated by the student-athletes of the Iowa Lakes Wrestling Program and it will be a great opportunity to see these highly-ranked athletes in action.
