Spirit Lake earns second Lakes Conference victory

SPIRIT LAKE – The Spirit Lake softball team earned its second Lakes Conference win of the season with a 5-1 victory over Spencer on WEdnesday.

Cara Vale earned the win on the mound. She gave up even hits and three walks with one strikeout. The Indians committed two errors.

At the plate, Allie Gerking was 1-3 with a double, Briana Brunsvold was 1-3 with a triple and an RBI and Caila Jones was 1-3 with a two-run double.

Amanda Bueltel and Emily Mercer each had an RBI.

Spencer’s Amy McLaury took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits, one walk with eight strikeotus. The Tigers had four errors.

Spirit Lake is travels to Estherville today

Rebels run past Indians

SPIRIT LAKE – The Spirit Lake softball team lost 15-4 to Sioux Central on Tuesday.

The Indians mustered just three hits.

Megan Ingall was 1-3 with a triple and an RBI. Briana Brunsvold was 1-3 with an RBI and Caila Jones was 1-3.

Amanda Bueltel and Allie Gerking each had one RBI.

Cara Vale took the loss, giving up 13 hits and five walks.

The Indians also committed three errors.

Sioux Central pitcher Brooke Scharn struck out seven and walked three in the win. She also helped her cause with a grand slam and a double as she went 3-5 with seven RBI. Brianna Ehlers also was 2-4 with two doubles and a three-run home run.

Spirit Lake hosted Spencer on Wednesday. The team travels Estherville today.
