SPIRIT LAKE – The Graettinger/Terril softball team had a short day at the Spirit Lake Tournament, but a good one.

The Knights won their only game, a 6-2 victory over Lawton-Bronson.

Mariah Girres picked up the win, giving up just three hits while striking out two batters and walking two in the win.

“We played good defense and Mariah played well,” said G/T coach Stephanie Hanson. “The girls kept together and go the hits when they needed them.”

Lawton-Bronson got on the scoreboard first with a one-out single followed by a stolen base, a groundout and a passed ball in the first inning.

The Knights answered in the bottom of the inning as Theresa Petersen hit a two-out home run to center field.

Lawton-Bronson didn’t score again until th to of the seventh, while G/T put together five runs.

Nikki Brown, Girres and Morgan Matthews each went 1-3 while Petersen, Amanda Oleson and Dakota Hovinga each went 1-4.

G/T (5-2, 2-1) will host Harris-Lake Park today, a game postponed from Monday.
