SPIRIT LAKE – The Spirit Lake softball team had a brief outing in the first game of the George-Little Rock Tournament on Friday.
The Indians lost to the hosts 10-0 in five innings.
Cara Vale took the loss, giving up 10 runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
At the plate, Caila Jones was 2-2 with two doubles.
Earlier this week, the Spirit Lake softball team posted a 1-2 record.
The Indians split a doubleheader with Cherokee on Wednesday, winning 17-14 and lost the second 10-7.
On Thursday, Sheldon avenged an early season loss to Spirit Lake with a 9-4 victory.
In game one versus Cherokee, Cara Vale went the distance on the mound, giving up 14 runs on 15 hits with six strikeouts and five walks.
Allie Gerking was 2-4 with a double and three RBI, Briana Brunsvold was 2-5 with a double and two RBI, Emily Mercer was 2-4 with two doubles and five RBI, Paige Krause was 2-3 with a double and an RBI, Caila Jones was 1-5 with a double and two RBI, Megan Ingvall was 1-5 with a double and an RBI and Lindsey Arneson was 1-2 with a double and three RBI.
In game two, Lexi Plumb took the loss for Spirit Lake. She pitched four innings, giving up seven runs on six hits with two walks. Vale closed out the game, giving up three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Against Sheldon, Vale again was on the mound. She gave up nine runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
At the plate, Gerking Brunsvold, Mercer, Jones and Paige Krause each had one hit. Krause had two RBI and Jones and Mercer each had one RBI.
