Indians pound E’Hawks 12-4

SPIRIT LAKE – After struggling through the weekend, the Spirit Lake baseball team pounded Emmetsburg 12-4 on Monday.

The Indians got back in the win column after an 8-0 loss to Sheldon on Friday followed by two losses at the George-Little Rock Tournament on Saturday. The Indians lost 4-3 to George-Little Rock and 8-5 to Central Lyon.

Against the E’Hawks, the Indians scored six runs in the second inning and added three each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Ethan Carlson pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.

At the plate, Carlson was 2-3 with an RBI, Mitch Peschon was 1-2 with two RBI, Nik Erickson was 1-4 with two RBI, Logan Davis was 1-3 with an RBI, Ryan Jennings, Derrick Miner and TJ Johnson each went 1-3.

Sheldon 8, Spirit Lake 0

Peschon pitched all seven innings in the loss to Sheldon on friday. He gave up seven runs on 12 hits with nine strikeouts.

Spirit Lake had six hits with Davis going 2-3. Shae Heinrichs was 1-1 while Carlson, Ryan Jennings and Miner each went 1-3.

George-Little Rock 4, Spirit Lake 3

Paul Brown pitched the six innings against George-Little Rock. He gave up three runs on six hits and had three strikeouts in the loss.

Spirit Lake pounded out nine hits. Erickson and Davis each went 2-4 with Davis driving in a run. Peschon was 1-2 while Miner, Jordan Gayer, Brown and jennings each had a hit. Peschon and Jennings also each had an RBI.

Central Lyon 8,

Spirit Lake 5

Taylor Acton pitched four innings in the loss to Central Lyon. He gave up five runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Brown pitched two innings, giving up one run on one hit with one strikeout.

At the plate, Carlson was 1-3 with a double and three RBI. Erickson was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Jennings and Heinrichs each went 1-2.

Spirit Lake travels to Hull to take on Western Christian on Thursday.
