Eight-run inning not enough for Indians

SPIRIT LAKE – The Spirit Lake baseball team came up on the short end of a slugfest with visiting Sibley-Ocheyedan on Tuesday.

After falling behind 11-3, Spirit Lake rallied with an eight-run fifth inning to tie the game.

However, the Generals out-scored the Indians 5-0 in the seventh inning to win 16-11.

Derrick Miner pitched six innings in the loss. He gave up 6 runs on 13 hits with 10 strikeouts and seven walks.

Tayler Acton pitched one inning and faced five batters with one strikeout and one walk.

At the plate, Ryan Jennings was 2-2 with an RBI, Miner was 1-3 with two RBI, Paul Brown was 2-3 with two RBI, Logan Davis was 2-5 with an RBI, Zubeen Azari was 1-2 with a double and an RBI, Jordan Gayer was 1-1 with a double and an RBI and Mitch Peschon was 1-5 with an RBI.

Spirit Lake is at Hull to face Western Christian today.
