A perfect night for Mustangs
WEST BEND – With Amy Leach back on the mound, the Armstrong-Ringsted softball team had little trouble with Class 1A No. 13 West Bend-Mallard.
Leach struck out 14 for her third perfect game of the season as her defense also backed her up with no errors in the 5-0 Mustangs victory.
Offensively, a two-run home run by Rosie Cheever in the top of the first inning set the tone for the night.
Morgan Grabinoski singled and Cheever then hit a “towering shot” over the left field fence, according to A-R assistant coach Harry McMaken.
“We never looked back,” he said.
Grabinoski was 2-4 and scored twice. Harley Lindell was 2-3 while Leach was 1-4 with an RBI. Cheever and Jasmine Clausen both were 1-3.
A-R (11-5) travels to the Forest City Tournament today.
