A-R offense scarce at Forest City Tourney
FOREST CITY – The Armstrong-Ringsted’s offense didn’t come to play at the Forest City Tournament on Saturday.
The Mustangs managed just one run in two games losing to Belmond-Klemme 4-1 and Charles City 2-0.
A-R assistant coach Harry McMaken said the Mustangs had a few missed chances.
“Rosie Cheever had a line drive that went just foul,” he said. “Bri (Gonzales) hit one to the fence that the breeze held in.”
A-R had two hits against Blemond-Klemme. Morgan Grabinoski was 1-3 and Amy Leach had a double and was 1-3.
Leach struck out 14 and gave up five hits in the loss.
A-R matched Charles City hit for hit with five apiece, but couldn’t get the timely one.
Leach was 2-2 while Cheever was 2-3 and Taylor Grabinoski was 1-3.
Leach pitched again, giving up five hits while striking out eight batters and walking one.
