Estherville Lincoln Central pounded out 14 hits and shut down Cherokee in a 7-0 Midgette victory on Wednesday.

Kendall Bosch made it easy on the defense with 12 strikeouts compared to one walk while giving up just two hits in the win. Bosch struck out the side in the second, third and fourth innings.

“I thought Kendall pitched a nice game and kept them off balance,” said ELC coach Megan Anderson. “I liked our two-out base hits and are base running.”

However a coach is never satisfied.

“I think we can hit harder and more often,” she said.

Kendall Bosch also had a solid night at the plate, going 3-4.

She led off the second inning with a single. Courtesy runner Kellie Christensen stole second base and scored on a two-out single by Ashley Weston. Weston singled, stole second and scored on a single to right field by Taylar Jacobson.

ELC added to its lead when Morgan Schichtl led off the fourth inning with a single. Courtesy runner Sadie Winter stole second and third and Jacobson drew a one-out walk and stole second.

That set up Brooke Egeland who hit a two-run double to the left-center field gap. Emily Kirchner singled and Maggie Asman drew a walk to load the bases. Caitlyn Swisher came up with an RBI single as ELC led 6-0.

The Midgettes added one run in the fifth inning. Weston hit a one-out triple and scored when Egeland singled with two outs.

Egeland was 2-3 with three RBI, Jacobson and Weston each went 2-3 with an RBI, Kirchner was 2-4, Asman was 1-2, Swisher was 1-3 and Schichtl was 1-4.

ELC (16-9, 9-6) is at Spirit Lake today.
