Leach limits R-A to two hits in twin bill

ARMSTRONG – The Armstrong-Ringsted softball team shut out Ruthven-Ayrshire in a Cornbelt Conference doubleheader on Wednesday.

Amy Leach pitched both games for the Mustangs, giving up two hits on the night.

In game one she struck out 12 batters and walked one in a 10-0 A-R win. The Mustangs needed just three innings in the second game, a 12-0 victory. Leach struck out four in the second game.

Rosie Cheever led the hitting in game one, going 3-3 with an RBI and a triple. Leach was 1-2 with two RBI. Brittney Mitchell and Brianne Gonzales each went 2-3, Emily Irmiter was 1-3 and Morgan Grabinoski was 1-4.

In game two, Grabinoski and Gonzales each went 2-3. Taylor Grabinoski was 1-1 and Irmiter was 1-2.

A-R (13-7) travels to Livermore on Friday to play Twin River Valley in the final game of the regular season.

The Mustangs host North Iowa on Wednesday, June 8 to start postseason play. The game has a 7:30 p.m. scheduled start and follows the Graettinger/Terril vs. Ruthven-Ayrshire 6 p.m. game.
