LAKE PARK – Graettinger/Terril came up with two Cornbelt Conference victories by sweeping Harris-Lake Park in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Knights opened with a 12-5 win and followed with a 15-2, six-inning victory.
G/T jumped out to a 7-0 lead before giving up five runs in the fourth.
“We always seem to have one bad inning,” said G/T coach Stephanie Hanson.
However, the Knights put the game away with five runs in the sixth while holding H-LP scoreless the rest of the game.
Malorie Girres earned the win giving up five runs (four earned) on nine hits with two walks and one strikeout.
At the plate, Theresa Petersen was 2-4 with four RBI including a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
Dakota Hovinga was 2-4 with an RBI and Amanda Oleson was 1-3 with an RBI. Girres was 2-2 while Tasha Neilson was 2-4 and Lindsay Flaharty was 1-3.
In game two, Mariah Girres struggled in her start, giving up eight walks in the first two innings as H-LP took a 2-1 lead.
Malorie stepped in and allowed just one run the rest of the way, but the Knights’ bats also picked up in the top of the third.
G/T plated 11 runs in the inning and cruised to the win.
Girres gave up three hits while striking out two batters and walking two.
Batting No. 9 in the order, Flaharty had the hot bat as she went 4-4 with three RBI and four stolen bases.
No. 8 batter Morgan Matthews was 2-4 with three RBI. Neilson was 2-3 with an RBI and a double, Maddy Schany and Nikki Brown both went 2-4 with two RBI. Malorie Girres also was 2-4 while Oleson and Petersen each were 2-5 with an RBI. Petersen also had a double. Hovinga was 1-4.
G/T (13-5) ends the regular season at home against Corwith-Wesley-Luverne today. Game time is 6 p.m. in Terril.
