A-R efficient against TRV

LIVERMORE – The Armstrong-Ringsted softball team was ‘efficient’ in defeating Twin River Valley 10-0 in five innings on Friday.

“We basically got the girls on base and brought them in,” said A-R assistant coach Harry McMaken.

The Mustangs were helped by the long ball with Amy leach hitting a two-run home run in the first inning and Rosie Cheever had a two-run home run in the second inning.

a-R led 7-0 after those first two innings.

Leach was 2-4 with four RBI. Cheever was 2-3 with two RBI.

Taylor Grabinoski also was 1-1 while Brittney Mitchell was 1-3 with an RBI and Morgan Grabinoski was 1-4.

A-R also was efficient defensively.

Leach struck out 12 batters while giving up one hit with no walks. The Mustangs had just one error.

A-R ends the regular season with a 14-7 record. The Mustangs host North Iowa on Wednesday in the first round of Class 1A postseason action. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and follows the Graettinger/Terril vs. Ruthven-Ayrshire game which starts at 6 p.m.
