Iowa Lakes soccer opens with shut out
BETTENDORF – The Iowa Lakes men’s soccer team started its inaugural season on the right foot with an 8-0 shut out over Scott Community College on Tuesday.
“I was very pleased with the players and how they played,” said Iowa Lakes coach Kevin Farley. “What I look for is work ethic and playing with class. We were up 4-0 at halftime and the other team really came after us. But the guys kept their heads.”
Willy Kappie and Francisco Ochoa each scored two goals for the Lakers.
Scott Pruitt, Alex Toay, Alberto Ledesma and Dylan Zeimet each scored one goal.
The Lakers had 19 shots on goal to just eight by Scott Community College.
Matt Broomhall started at goalkeeper and stopped a penalty kick in the first half. However he was injured and Alex Seaman tover over behind in the second half and continued the shut out.
Iowa Lakes (1-0) travels to Rosemount, Minn., Friday to play Anoka Ramsey College.
