CHARLES CITY – The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central/Emmetsburg girls swim team took fourth place at Charles City on Saturday with 224 points.

The 200 medley relay of Missy Zadow, Hanna Degen, Kendall Bosch and Jenni Weaver finished seventh.

Bosch finished third in the 200 individual medley and sixth in the 100 butterfly.

Degen took fifth in the 50 freestyle.

The 200 yard team of Hannah Priest, Degen, Weaver and Bosch also finished third.

The 400 free relay team finished sixth with Priest, Weaver, Degen, Williams.

Other girls with high finishes included: Hannah Priest sixth in the 200 free, Alyssa Williams ninth in 200 individual medley and 10th in 100 fly, Jenni Weaver ninth in the 100 free, Missy Zadow 13th in 100 breast stroke, Nicole Kenne 14th in 200 free and 100 breast stroke, Nicole Person 13th in the 100 back, Liz Humble 11th in the 500 free and Michaela Christian 12th in the 500 free.

“The team scored 224 points which is the most we have ever scored and fourth is our best finish at this invitational,” said coach Jim Fisher. “We had several girls step up today and swim events for the first time and scored well. This is the first time we have had two top three finishes and we had 11 top 10 finishes for the first time.

“We also finished ahead of Vinton which is a good step for us and we came back and beat Spencer in a couple of events, which we did not do on Thursday night,” he continued.

“We scored points in the 500 free for the first time this year and that was 11big points for us. I told the girls going into the 400 free relay we had to beat Vinton with both teams which we did and that helped us in the meet. “

Next up is Saturday at the Polar Bear Invitational at Des Moines North.
