Lakers golfers win Classic
Iowa Lakes took two men’s golf teams and the women’s team to Worthington Country Club for the Minnesota West Classic on Friday on Saturday Saturday.
While the women faced off against only Minnesota West CTC, the men also faced Ridgewater College in the meet.
Iowa Lakes men’s A team shot a 297 to take a commanding victory over the B team which shot a combined score of 328. Minnesota West carded a 364, good enough for third-place.
The Lakers’ Scott Benson earned first-place honors with a 18-hole score of 68, tying the individual low score in Iowa Lakes history for the second time in three matches this fall.
Jarvis Weber and Scott Kremer shot 74s to also earn medalist honors for Iowa Lakes.
Ridgewater’s Nate Nelson shot a back-nine 34 to card a 72 and take second-place.
The Laker women edged their opponents by seven strokes to earn 281-288 victory.
Iowa Lakes’ Meaghan Schmidt recorded a 92 to take first-place honors in the meet.
Also for the Lakers, Nikki Nelson carded a 94, Kelsey Osborne shot a 95, Lauren Hartman scored a 102 and former ELC Midget Macy Milburn shot a 107.
Minnesota West’s Kendall Sparks and Breanna Rients carded 93s to round out the medalists and Kaia Nowatzki carded a 102.
