GRAETTINGER – The Graettinger/Terril volleyball team picked up a Cornbelt Conference win on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over West Bend-Mallard.

The Knights took game one 25-19, but lost game two 27-25. G/T took the final two games 25-20, 25-19.

“The Knights played a great all around match against a tough and talented West Bend-Mallard team,” said G/T coach Jeff Sansgaard.

He attributed a large part of the success by the passing and serve reception of the Knights’ back row players.

“The Knights offense was on fire as well led by senior middle hitter Tasha Neilson who has led the team in hitting all season,” said Sansgaard.

Neilson had 15 kills and teammate Dakota Hovinga was close behind with 3. Nikki Brown also had eight kills.

Lindsay Flaharty had 29 assists.

Defensively, Neilson had a team-high 20 digs while Hovinga had 18, Flaharty had 16 and Callie Herke had 13.

Sansgaard said the serving also played a role in the win.

Logan Clabaugh had four aces and Flaharty has missed just one serve in 14 matches.

Morgan Mortenson also had three aces in 20 serves and Neilson had two aces in 15 serves.

Neilson, Brown, Flaharty and Mortenson each had one block.

The Knights (6-8) are home against Ruthven-Ayrshire on Thursday.
