Algona/ELC/E girls swim team places fifth

DES MOINES – The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central girls swim team finished fifth at the Polar Bear Invite on Saturday.

Top finishes included the 200 medley relay team of Missy Zadow, Jenni Weaver, MacKenzie Wilson and Deb Weideman which finished sixth.

Amber Schacherer placed ninth in the 200 individual medley and seventh in the 100 butterfly.

Jenni Weaver was ninth in the 100 free,

Missy Zadow placed eighth in the 100 backstroke.

Deb Weideman took seventh in the 100 breaststroke.

Nicole Kenne placed 12th in the 500 freestyle.

The 200 and 400 freestyle relays were fifth and those teams were Weideman, Zadow, Weaver and JoHanna Degen

Degen also took fourth in the 50 free and finished second in the 100 free.

“We had a lot of girls swimming events for the first time this year and we had the relays with some different girls swimming on them today,” said coach Jim Fisher.

Up next for the team is a meet at Storm Lake on Thursday night.
