A-R struggles through ELC tourney

The Armstrong-Ringsted volleyball team had a rough day at the 2009 Estherville Lincoln Central Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

The Mustangs won only one game in pool play as they lost three matches on the day.

A-R opened against Emmetsburg where they won the first game 21-18, but lost the next two, 21-16, 15-10.

Storm Lake swept A-R 21-10, 21-15 and Humboldt won 21-18, 21-3.

Brianne Gonzales led the attack with 13 kills on the day, seven coming against Emmetsburg. She also had 20 digs and three ace serves.

Megan Sanders had 10 kills along with a team-high 24 digs. She was perfect on 21 serves with one ace.

Taylor Grabinoski had 14 set assists and 12 digs. She also was 19-of-20 serving with four aces.

Tess Christiansen had 10 set assists with 12 digs. Also Harley Lindell had four kills and five blocks.

A-R is back in action today at Ruthven to take on the Raiders.
