Lakers sweep Triton Tournament opponents

FORT DODGE – The Iowa Lakes volleyball team opened up the Iowa Central Tournament with a pair of victories on Friday.

The Lakers swept both Kansas City Community College and Fort Scott Community College.

Scores against Kansas City were 25-17, 25-15, 25-16.

Yawen Xiao had a team-high 16 kills along with six ace serves. Danika Stindtman had 10 kills while Breanna Gourley had 30 set assists.

Mariah Simonson led the net defense with seven blocks while Leah Flaharty had a team-high 14 digs.

Against Fort Scott, the Lakers won 25-7, 25-14, 25-5.

Xiao had 15 kills and seven ace serves while Gourley had 36 set assists.

Flaharty had 12 digs Danqi Li had two blocks. Also, Rachael Nelson had six ace serves.

Iowa Lakes (17-17) continues play at the Iowa Central Tournament today.
