A/ELC/E swim team takes second at quad
CHARLES CITY – The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central/Emmetsburg girls swim team ended the regular season with a second-place finish at the Charles City Quad meet on tuesday.
Decorah won with 281 points followed by Algona/ELC/E with 125, Vinton-Shellsburg with 70 and Charles City with 52.
“Overall the girls had a good night with 26 of the 30 events scoring points,” said coach Jim Fisher. “The girls were coming off a long night on Monday yet everyone put forth a good effort to place second which is our highest finish in this meet.
“We had never beaten Vinton until the CC Invite and now to come back and beat them by 50 was a good night.”
Placing third were Kendall Bosch in the 200 individual medley and Hannah Priest in the 100 breaststroke.
Jenni Weaver placed fourth in the 200 freestyle and Nicole Kenne was fourth in the 500 freestyle.
Placing fifth were Johanna Degen in the 100 freestyle, Bosch in the 100 butterfly and Liz Humble in the 500 freestyle.
Three relay teams finished fourth.
They were the 200 medley relay team of Amber Schacherer, Priest, Bosch and Degen, the 200 freestyle relay team of Priest, Weaver, Bosch and Degen and the 400 freestyle relay team of Schacherer, Degen, Weaver and MacKenzie Wilson.
The girls swim team travels to the regional meet at the Fort Dodge High School on Oct. 31.
