A/ELC/E swim team wraps up season
FORT DODGE – The Algona/Esthervile Lincoln Central/Emmetsburg Girls Swim team ended the season at the Fort Dodge regionals on Saturday with an eighth-place finish. The team scored a team record-high of 99 points.
Top finishers were Kendall Bosch with an eighth place in the 200 individual medley and 10th in the 100 butterfly.
The 200 medley relay team of Missy Zadow, Hannah Priest, Bosch and Johanna Degen and the 400 freestyle relay team of Amber Schacherer, Jenni Weaver, Priest and Degen both finished seventh and the 200 freestyle relay team of Bosch, Weaver, Priest and Degen placed eighth.
Hannah Priest set a team record in the 100 breast stroke.
“All of the girls finished in the top 25 of their events. We had 14 top 20 finishes and five in the top 10 which is the best we have done,” said coach Jim Fisher. “We had 10 events score which showed in the final score. 16 events beat their seed time for the day. We had several personal bests on the day which showed the girls hard work all season.
“The team had a good season winning four duals, finishing fourth at the Charles City Invite and second at the Charles City Quad meet. With the team only losing three seniors and having seven freshmen there is a good base for the team in the coming years,” said Fisher.
