McCauley earns EDN VB award

The Estherville Lincoln Central volleyball team held its end of the year get-together and awards night Tuesday at the high school.

Managing editor David Swartz announced that Kelsie McCauley is the winner of the Estherville Daily News Athlete of the Year award in volleyball.

The senior outside hitter helped ELC to a 13-16 record overall and 2-5 in the Lakes Conference. She was the team leader in kills with 248 kills on the season, an average of 2.8 per game. She also led the team in ace serves with 50, an average of .6 per game. She was second on the team in digs with 163, an average of 1.9 per game.

Three ELC players earned all-conference honors this season-McCauley, Kaylene Vos and Ashley Weston.

McCauley was named a first-team all-conference selection.

She was fourth in the conference in kills per game with 2.82.

Vos earned second-team all-conference honors.

The senior setter was second in the league in assists with 620, an average of 7.05 per game.

Weston earned honorable mention. She was one of the tops in the conference of serving percentage with 261 successful serves in 275 attempts for a .949 percent efficiency.

Academic all-conference

Vos and senior manager Erin Kirchner earned academic all-conference honors.

The complete Lakes All-Conference list will not be released until after the state volleyball tournament is finished.
