Records fall for Indians’ Lawler

EMMETSBURG – Spirit Lake Park’s Megan Lawler was at the top of her game at the Okoboji Relays on Monday, breaking the meet record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.07 seconds and established the 3A No. 1 time in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.38 seconds. Her 200-meter dash time also broke the Spirit Lake Park school record.

Lawler’s record breaking performance led the way for a second place finish with 118.5 points, just three points behind champion Sioux Central.

Emmetsburg followed with 99, Sioux Center with 89, Okoboji and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborne each had 72 total points.

The Indians had five first place and four second place finishes on the night.

In addition to her two individual wins, Lawler led the sprint medley team of Lindsey Arneson, Alex Horsman and Caila Jonies to a first place finish in a time of 1 minute, 57.35 seconds and the same group also took second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:52.08.

McKenzie Dziedzic also had a solid meet earning two individual wins in teh 3,000 and 1,500-meter runs in 11:27.54 and 5:18.86, respectively.

Jessica Wallace placed second in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 10 inches and Molly Hutchins placed second in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 2 inches.

Briana Brunsvold placed second in the 3,000-meter run in 11:47.25.
