G/T goes low

By Staff | Apr 30, 2010

SPENCER – Runner-up medalist Blaze Alesch blazed a trail to victory for the Graettinger/Terril boys golf team on Thursday, as the freshman shot a 36 at Spencer to lead the Knights to a three-stroke victory over Clay Central-Everly, 163-166.

Alesch carded birdies on holes one, three, five and eight, however, a triple bogey six on the par three sixth was the lone blemish on an otherwise spotless round of golf and cost himself medalist honors that went to CCE’s Alex Thorne. Thorne and Alesch tied at 36, however, Thorne won due to handicapped holes.

Senior Cody Dyhrkopp also had a good day, carding a one-over-par 37.

Dyhrkopp started his round with consecutive birdies on holes one and two, before carding bogeys on five and six. A double bogey on eight put Dyhrkopp on his heals, but he responded with a birdie four on the final hole.

“Other than the wind it was a good day tonight,” said G/T coach Brent Dyhrkopp. “This was our best team effort so far this year. Blaze and Cody both had great rounds.”

Rounding out the scoring for G/T was Mitch Girres and Ryan Schany with scores of 45.

Non-counting scores came from Zach Harris with a 47, Quinn Parker with a 53 and Tanner Naig with a 54.
